Setup Synchronization

Complete guide to setting up cloud synchronization across all your devices.

Prerequisites​

Before starting:

□ Xermius account (free or paid)
□ Internet connection
□ Email access (for verification)
□ Multiple devices (optional)

Initial Setup​

Step 1: Create Account​

If no account:

1. Settings → Synchronization
2. Click "Create Account"
3. Fill form:
   Email: [your@email.com]
   Password: [••••••••]
   Confirm: [••••••••]
4. Click "Create Account"
5. Check email for verification
6. Click verification link
7. Account created ✓

Step 2: Sign In​

If have account:

Settings → Synchronization

Email:

Step 3: Enable Sync​

First-time setup:

Add Second Device​

On Device 2​

Setup sync:

1. Install Xermius
2. Settings → Synchronization
3. Sign in (same account)
4. Enable Sync

Team Setup​

Team Account​

For teams:

1. Admin creates team
2. Admin invites members
3. Members accept invite
4. Members enable sync
5. Shared resources sync

Team sync:
- Shared hosts
- Shared snippets
- Team settings

Permissions​

Team Member Permissions:

Migration​

From Other Apps​

Import then sync:

1. Import data:
   Hosts → Import from file

2. Enable sync:
   All imported data syncs

3. Done!
   Now on all devices

From Old Account​

Switch accounts:

1. Export from old account
2. Sign out
3. Sign in to new account
4. Import data
5. Enable sync

View activity:

Settings → Sync → Activity

Troubleshooting Setup​

Can't Enable Sync​

Check:

□ Account verified?
□ Internet connected?
□ Firewall blocking?
□ Subscription active?

Fix then retry

Sync Takes Forever​

If slow:

Causes:
- Slow internet
- Large data set
- Server busy

Solutions:
- Wait patiently
- Try on better network
- Selective sync (fewer items)

Initial Sync Failed​

Retry:

1. Settings → Sync
2. Disable sync
3. Wait 10 seconds
4. Enable sync again
5. Choose "Merge" mode

Best Practices​

1. Backup First​

Before enabling sync:
1. Export all data
2. Save backup file
3. Then enable sync

Safety first!

2. Test with One Item​

First sync:
1. Create 1 test host
2. Sync
3. Verify on device 2
4. Works? Enable full sync

Test before committing

3. Gradual Rollout​

For teams:
1. Enable for 1 person
2. Test 1 week
3. Add 2-3 people
4. Test another week
5. Roll out to all
